Mr Kofi Ansong Denkyi

Kofi is currently the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Empretec Ghana, appointed in January 2018. He identifies, develops and directs the implementation and achievement of the corporate business strategies and financial targets of the following departments of Empretec Ghana: (1) Consultancy & Advisory (2) Training and (3) Credit Sourcing.
Prior to his appointment as the COO of Empretec Ghana, Kofi has had over 25 years combined experience in project management and coordination, MSMEs development, Entrepreneurship development and institutional strengthening, as well as in agribusiness and inclusive finance. He has had full supervisory and/or consulting engagements with a number of projects financed by international development agencies. The technical and managerial expertise brought to these projects enhanced the achievement of the objectives of the development agencies, such as:
1) Oxford Policy Management/Mastercard Foundation/PSD Consulting, as the lead expert for the MasterCard Savings at the Frontier Program which started in 2016 and being implemented in Ghana, Zambia and Tanzania;
2) Team Leader for the African Development Bank/Vision Consult/PENTAX Program of Assistance to Support Trade Sector Institutions in Liberia (PATSIL);
3) KPMG/MasterCard Foundation Fund for Rural Prosperity;
4) KPMG/AGRA Fund for the Africa Enterprise Challenge Fund;
5) DFID West African Food Markets Project;
6) The Millennium Villages Projects, which was implemented by the Millennium Promise Alliance;
7) African Development Bank as Projects Supervision Consultant;
8) Empretec Ghana as the Program Manager of the UNDP/GoG Credit Sourcing Program Kofi managed UNDP Ghana's initiatives in capacity building of some Government Ministries and industry associations/representative bodies between 2000 and 2005.
He also managed UNDP Ghana's Program for providing entrepreneurship and management training for MSMEs benefiting from microfinance development interventions implemented by UNDP/GoG spanning a period of eight (8) years. These interventions resulted in improved efficiency of the MSMEs and the institutions and enhanced the technical and managerial competencies of key staff, to better pursue their macro/micro level corporate and business roles and responsibilities. Kofi has considerable experience in engaging at the political, administrative and technical levels with Government, development partners, civil society organizations and traditional authorities. Kofi holds a Master of Applied Science Degree in Rural Development from Lincoln University, New Zealand, Diploma in Project Management from Denmark and a Bachelor's Degree from KNUST.
